The RACE in 1928

We are going back in time. It is 1928. The first sports cars are appearing on the roads of Limburg. The trip from Weert to Arcen in an automobile – the symbol of a new time – is a great adventure. The ultramodern cyclecars, voiturettes or grand sport automobiles can go as fast as 80 kilometres per hour. Unprecedented!!! Their drivers are the heroes of their time. Dusty roads, barely any road signs, flooded areas and don’t forget the unpredictable weather with storms, rain showers and hail. Against this exciting backdrop they accomplished amazing things. Only the strongest, the champions make it in just one day! Weert – Arcen – Weert in one day! An unbelievable record!

The challenge in 2010

We take a Cyclecar, Voiturette or Grand Sport, that means an open sportscar from 1920 to 1934. We take roadmaps and roadbooks from the same period. And we take the same routes as 80 years ago that led to eternal glory. The roads have been improved, don’t exist or are completely hidden between the fields of Limburg. But we will find them once again! Much of that beauty still exists if you look for it. And we will enjoy that immensely during the Endurance Rally Weert-Arcen-Weert 2010 of Les Amis d’Amilcar des Pays Bas. It is the high point of the year for every real vintage sport enthusiast.
